Blogtober 2018 Day One – Blogtober is here, but what is it? I hear you asking and why are you doing it?
Hello! I’m Sarah, and I run Sarah Beth Blogs. A lifestyle blog that covers organisation, money and blogging; as well as lifestyle topics.
I’m a Mum and wife. Our son is almost 8 and I’m not far off my 40th! I’m not quite so worried about turning 40, I’m quite looking forward to it. I hated turning 30!
I love autumn, winter, Halloween and Christmas. Really LOVE them so I thought a brilliant way to share my love of all things autumnal would be to take part in Blogtober! So here I am.
If you’d like to discover a little more about me then please do visit my about me page.
Blogtober is a post daily challenge. For each day in October (there are 31 days) you have to post a new blog post (or YouTube video if you are taking part in Vlogtober, the video content equivalent).
Blogtober has no strict rules to follow other than post daily. The topics you choose to post about are entirely your choice. If you join a linky (such as Mani Morrisons Blogtober 2018 linky and Facebook group, I`ve popped a link to her blog below) there might be a predetermined schedule, which is a suggestion of what you could post about each day but most of the time these are just guidelines, you can post about anything you like.
Have you heard of Blogoween and feel a little confused? Well, the general rule of thumb is throughout Blogtober you can post about anything. Most people will find an autumn/winter or Halloween theme works well, but it isn’t a requirement.
However, Blogoween is strictly 31 days of Halloween content, although some do mix it up a bit and pop in other topics, it really is up to you as it is your blog at the end of the day.
So why exactly am I taking part?
I tried last year, with a different blog but had to drop out; disorganisation and family priorities.
So this year I wanted to challenge myself. Explore my favourite season and be able to write posts that made me excited and feel autumnal!
I also wanted to connect with other bloggers and hopefully find new readers and followers.
There is also a video version of this challenge on YouTube called Vlogtober (and Vlogoween). There are some really interesting and fun people out there creating brilliant video content.
It’s always nice to show some love to other bloggers (and vloggers too!) taking part by reading their posts and sharing their work. But there are no strict guidelines. Here is a list of other bloggers I know who are taking part.
Elaine from Early Retirement Rocks
Bek from Dilly Drops
Hazel from Tea and Cake for the Soul
and last but not least Mandi from Big Family Organised Chaos Mandi also runs a blogtober linky and Facebook group which you can join in with if you are interested in taking this challenge.
Does any of this sound interesting? Are you to bursting with excitement that autumn is here and Halloween is just around the corner? Are you a fellow blogger exploring other blogs or are you a reader? I’d honestly love to know! Also, if you have any suggestions for posts you’d like to see over the next month, or any time, I’ll do my best to fit it in, drop me a comment and let me know!
