Hi, I’m Sarah, also known as Sarah Beth Blogs & Vlogs. I’ve gone by other names online but this is the one that has stuck!
I’ve created this blog as a way of sharing my experiences, struggles and triumphs with other parents/guardians who home educate and/or work from home.
My aim is to create a blog that is brutally honest, informative, hopefully useful and fun, as a way of reassuring and helping other parents/guardians who are embarking on their own journeys.
I strongly believe in being open, honest and non-judgemental and as supportive as possible, I really hope that shows within the blog.
This blog is in no way about persuading you to home educate or not to home educate or even that working from home is some sort of amazing must-do experience!
In my imagination, when I write my blog posts, or make videos, im speaking to someone who has already made their mind up to go ahead with home education or working from home, or they are seriously considering it and are looking for information on other peoples experiences.
I am most definitely not the type of person who thinks their way is the only way. We should all choose our own paths and that of our family’s based on our experiences and the information we have at the time.
Thats all im sharing within this blog, my experiences and the information I have learned along the way in my journey so far. In the hope it might be of use to you or your family to either try or tweek or to just share an expericne so you dont feel alone.
More About Me
I’m 40, married and we have one son together. I’ve always known I wanted to be self employed and preferably work from home. However, it took me many years to actually become self employed and it has taken even longer to settle on an idea or two that has held my interest and earned me some money.
Working from Home
I’m in the process of growing my reselling business. I mainly sell on eBay but I am looking at expanding onto Facebook marketplace.
I’m also looking into the possibility of selling items on Etsy, as well as my own website.
Then I’m also keen to grow this blog and my YouTube channel.
I am the sort of person who has many interests and I’m always interested in learning new ways of turning my interests and hobbies into money making side hustles.
I’ll be using a methodical and consistent approach so I can stay on track with each project.
I never imagined we would be home educating our son. I knew it was a thing but it just didn’t seem a suitable fit for our little man when the time came for him to begin his education.
Unfortunately, as he got older and moved up in the different primary years the more and more he struggled.
We were very lucky that the school he was at were brilliant and went above and beyond to help meet his needs. But at the end of the day he was still really struggling. We spent 2 years trying to figure out how to help him in the school setting only to eventually realise he just wasn’t suited to the school setting.
He was withdrawn, miserable and I honestly felt like we were losing our happy, clever, inquisitive little boy.
So we chose to home educate and haven’t looked back since. He really has thrived and we could see a dramatic change in him within a few weeks of making the change.
We are in no way anti-school and really do believe each child and family should judge their own situation individually. Some children like my son don’t suit the school setting and some don’t suit the home education setting. It really is a decision that should be taken on an individual basis.
I’ve gone through many life struggles in my 40 years on this planet but i’ve come to realise that no matter what your past was like and now matter how much a struggle the present can be sometimes if you have a dream or drive to make a better life for yourself and/or your family you can do it. I’m living proof of that.
You need effort and motivation and the decision to make small positive changes as and when they are needed.
I really hope you find something helpful, useful or fun and I’m really excited to share this journey with you!
